Pilates is a great workout for people of all ages and fitness levels. It is especially beneficial for people with back pain, poor posture, or limited flexibility.
You should wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely in. Some people prefer to wear form-fitting clothing so that the instructor can easily correct their posture and alignment.
To prevent slipping on the mat, you will also need to wear grip socks, which are available for purchase at the studio.
We provide mats at the studio, so you do not need to bring your own.
There is a 24-hour cancellation fee of 100% of the cost for all of our services (group classes, Livestream, private sessions). Exceptions are based on individual circumstances like medical emergencies with proof provided. Reservations can be canceled online through your Vagaro account, or by sending an email to contact@kenpilates.com.
Cancellations made with less than the required amount of notice will be subject to a full charge for the appointment.You will lose your session if you do not cancel on time.

Students who arrive more than 10 minutes after a class begins may not be permitted to participate in the class and will be charged for the session in full.For private sessions, our teachers are required to wait 20 minutes, and if we do not have any notice, they are free to leave, and you will be charged the full amount for that session.
Please arrive 5 minutes early for a smooth check-in experience. Avoid getting there too early as we allow for a 10 minutes clean up and set up time in between session.
No membership can be canceled before the 4-month commitment, with the exception of our higher priced "No commitment monthly membership".
No pets are allowed in the studios.
No kids are allowed during group classes. Adolescents from 12-17 need signed approval from parents to take class.
If you take a class, you automatically agree to our policies and are fully liable for your physical wellbeing and any injuries that may result during the class.

There is a 6-month expiration date for all of our services (besides membership). We offer buybacks of any expired classes or sessions if you have sessions or classes left after the expiration date.

A Pilates class at Ken Pilates typically starts with a warm-up, followed by a series of exercises that focus on strengthening and toning the core muscles. The exercises are designed to be challenging but not too strenuous, and you can modify them to fit your own fitness level. At the end of the class, there is a cool-down and stretch. At Ken Pilates we integrate other somatic practices like Resistance Training & Yoga, to provide you with the best movement experience.
If you have any injuries or are pregnant, it is important to let the instructor know before class starts. This will allow the instructor to modify the exercises for you and make sure that you are safe. If you are in your second trimester we encourage you to sign up for Private sessions to get a personalized program to guide you through your pregnancy.
It is recommended that you do Pilates at least 2-3 times per week. However, if you are new to Pilates, you may want to start with once per week and gradually increase the frequency as you get more comfortable with the exercises. Some of our strongest clients come to class even 5 days per week.
It is important to listen to your body and modify the exercises as needed. If you are feeling pain, stop the exercise and consult with your instructor.

At Ken Pilates, we don't only teach "Classical Pilates". We have developed a method that takes a contemporary twist on the practice to make it more effective for our clients. Our instructors are experienced in other somatic practices and we use that knowledge to provide the best movement experience for our clients. We use a variety of props throughout the classes. This allows us to provide a more comprehensive workout that targets all of the major muscle groups.We also focus on proper alignment and form. This helps to prevent injuries and ensures that you get the most out of your workout.
There are a number of places where you can park your car as a visitor in Hoboken. You can park in metered parking spots, in municipal lots, or in private lots. Metered parking spots are available on most streets in Hoboken and cost $2 per hour. Municipal lots are located throughout the city and cost $10 per day. Private lots are also available and prices vary.You can also use the ParkMobile App to pay for parking. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices.
