About the role
Staff Instructors are the heart of the room. You lead classes across our signature formats, bring energy, clarity, and care to every member, and help build the community our studios are known for. You'll teach a regular weekly schedule, grow through ongoing coaching, and have a real path into private instruction and leadership.
Our formats
- SpringSculpt: our signature spring-resistance method
- Hot Mat Sculpt: strength in the hot room
- ZenSculpt: our yoga and Pilates hybrid, in the heat
- Private studio: comprehensive Pilates on the full apparatus, including reformer and trapeze conversion combinations and Pilates chairs
You should already know these formats, or be able to pick them up quickly through our coaching. The more versatile you are across formats, the more you'll teach.
What you'll do
- Teach a regular weekly schedule across your qualified formats
- Deliver a consistent, high-energy member experience in every class
- Cue with clarity and offer hands-on adjustments where appropriate
- Keep growing through ongoing coaching and continuing education
- Help build and sustain the Ken Pilates community inside and outside the room
Pay and benefits
- Instructor pay is a sliding scale from $20 to $70 per hour, set by class attendance along with your experience and performance.
- Complimentary membership at our Hoboken studio.
- W-2 employee position: paid sick leave, disability and paid family leave coverage, and the other benefits that come with being a true employee rather than a contractor.
What we're looking for
- Comprehensive Pilates certification (mat-only does not qualify)
- Familiarity with our formats, including SpringSculpt, Hot Mat Sculpt, and ZenSculpt, or the ability to learn them quickly through our coaching
- Strong cueing, presence, and hands-on instincts
- Experience teaching group classes
- Coachable and committed to continuing education
Preferred qualifications
- Prior teaching experience across a range of formats and levels
- Versatility to teach multiple formats, including hot and apparatus-based work
- A desire to be more than an instructor: someone who supports the growth and development of the company, mentors newer teammates, and contributes to studio culture
- Interest in a path toward private instruction and leadership
